Nd:YAG Laser for Telangiectasias
Nd:YAG laser treatment is considered one of the best options for telangiectasias on the legs and face, offering both efficacy and safety. It can be used for spider veins as well as deeper, more resistant telangiectasias with thicker vessel walls.
Its action is based on selective absorption by hemoglobin within the vessels. Heat generated inside the vessel leads to blood coagulation, followed by vessel collapse and gradual resorption. When performed by an experienced dermatologist, the laser penetrates deeply enough to target abnormal vessels while sparing the epidermis and surrounding healthy tissues.
It is associated with mild discomfort and a short recovery period, without scarring or bruising. Any localized irritation typically resolves within approximately two weeks, and the condition is usually treated effectively in 1–3 sessions on average.
